Meghan Gomen, Executive Director, received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from James Madison University. Ms. Gomen is a harpist who has performed in many venues with a variety of ensembles. She was an orchestra director in Texas public schools for 11 years before joining Texas Winds.

Kaleena Lay joined the Texas Winds staff in 2021. She received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University. Mrs. Lay taught private flute lessons and elementary music in Texas public schools for 10 years.

Carrie Johnson joined Texas Winds temporarily in September 2024 and joined the team permanently in January 2025. The mission of Texas Winds deeply resonated with her heart, and she made the decision to transition from the corporate world to the nonprofit sector. Carrie brings with her a wealth of experience in customer service, marketing, and administrative support.
Her passion for the performing arts has been a lifelong journey, beginning at the age of three with active involvement in dance, theatre, and chorus. Carrie’s blend of professional expertise and artistic dedication makes her a valuable asset to the Texas Winds team.

Catherine Barr founded Texas Winds Musical Outreach, Inc. in 1985. Ms. Barr graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Education. She resides in Dallas, Texas and has performed with the Dallas and Fort Worth Symphonies and the Dallas Opera Orchestra. While she has retired from Texas Winds, she is often found in the audience at concerts and continues to share her wisdom and expertise with the organization.
