Texas Winds Receives Award for Mission Achievement

The Center for Nonprofit Management in Dallas has chosen Texas Winds Musical Outreach, Inc. for its annual award, in the category of Excellence In Mission Achievement For Nonprofits With Budgets Under $1 million. The awards is given recognizing organizations that exemplify distinctive achievement in nonprofit management with $5,000 cash awards. Texas Winds was selected for developing and implementing a program clearly focused on advancing its mission, and addressing a critical community need.

Catherine Barr, founder and executive director of Texas Winds, accepted the award on behalf of the organization, its musicians, staff, and board of trustees. Last year, 70 professional musicians gave more than 855 free concerts, reaching 33,000 persons, young and old, from nursing home residents and hospital patients to children in Head Start Centers.
